The spanish football club Valencia Club de Fútbol has turned 100 years. I, as a football fan, decided to make some paper toys of some of their iconic players. Not just classic illustrations, but something different and original. I choosed Santi Cañizares, Mundo and Mario Kempes. Football players easy to illustrate and recognizable, also appreciated by the valencian supporters. I made all the paper toys with Adobe Illustrator after sketching with pencils. The most difficult was to match the drawings with the original and then fit it to the template. Making Paper Toys is not hard work but you need to think in a 3D way, with volume. The original templates I used for this work were from other artists: Tougui (France), Boo! Studio (Brazil) and Carlo Giovani (Portugal).
Find in this post some sketches and work process of them. I had to test over many templates (some mines, some other not). Who would you have choosen? It was difficult to me to decide the players and the template to make them fit.
